Answers

Choose the right form
  1. I used to live in Brighton, I used to rent a room.“Live” is a state, so it's used to. Would is never for a state.
  2. On Sundays I would sleep all morning, then get up at noon!Every Sunday, again and again: would. Used to works too, but with a d: I used to sleep.
  3. I used to have no money, I used to feel so small.“Have” here is a state, what you had: used to, never would.
  4. So every weekend I would stay home, staring at the wall!Every weekend, again and again: would. Or “I used to stay”, always with a d.
  5. I used to have a phone that couldn't do much at all.Having a phone is a state: used to.
  6. You would ring the house, and my dad would answer every call!Every call, again and again: would + verb.
  7. I didn't use to like coffee, now I drink it all the time.“Like” is a state, so not would. After didn't, it's use to, without the d.
  8. Did you use to play an instrument? Yes, I did, guitar. After did, it's use to, without the d: Did you use to play?
